Meeting with Elizabeth Barnes

Just had our first workshop last night with casting director Elizabeth Barnes. I got to do a scene from Party of Five playing the role of Stephanie. Elizabeth was very helpful and informative and I really enjoyed getting to work with her and get her feedback! We also culminated the evening with a showcase where we did our work from classes for agents Orion Barnes from Rogers Orion Talenst Agency and Samantha Daniels from Avalon Artists. We also got to meet with manager Jerry Silverhardt from Brenner-Silverhardt Management, who has worked with Tom Cruise and Dylan McDermott. Knowing that it almost had a full circle fill as when I first started acting in Michigan, I took an acting workshop from a man who had one coached Dylan McDermott. Looking forward to what tonight's workshops and showcase will hold! Stayed tuned... I shall also be in the process of updating my website soon!

Finally after months of anticipation we have arrived! Very excited to be here in L.A. the weather is beautiful, and we have a car! Very excited about all of our classes/workshops with One on One. Meeting a bunch of industry guests right off the bat really will be exciting!

Reading of Pinocchio's Ashes

Really excited to be doing a reading of Pinocchio's Ashes by Jokum Rohde with the Scandinavian American Theater Company on Monday Jan. 31st at 8pm. It's the first time this play is being read in it's English translation and it is really a fantastic piece! It's a courtroom drama that also has a fairytale element to it, that examines a society without art. I find it very haunting and extremely relevant. I've really been enjoying delving into this play and I think if your free on Monday you should definitely come check it out! It's free admission, plus free wine and soda (starts at 7:30pm). It's located at the Scandinavian House (58 Park Ave.) Hope to see you there!

The Radiant, it's official!

Writing you with very exciting news, I'll be going down to Miami in March to do a full production of The Radiant at The New Theatre! It's official, I've signed the contract! I'm so thrilled to finally see this show into a full production. We've done several readings of it so far at The Actors Studio and EST, it will be so amazing to be a part of the first full production! It will run from March 25th-April 17th, so if any of you are in for a vacation from cold climates come and check it out!

Really excited we just booked our first choice venue for ON CAMPUS! It's The LABA Theater at the 14th Street Y and it's beautiful! In our ideal location and will leave us ample room for creative staging and set, yay! We have the space from March 7th-March 27th. So be sure to keep updated on this great new play. I'll be sure to announce the exact dates and times when it gets closer :)

So yes, it's true, ever since that sunny audition in Miami, my mind keeps wandering back to warm welcoming Florida. Since life is short, I figured I would escape the brisk New York once more to audition in 80 degree weather. So, I had some great auditions lined up in Orlando. The first ones were for Disney, great in the fact that they got to see my face... twice, even though I probably wasn't what they were looking for at the moment since they were mainly casting The Lion King. However the audition for Universal went really great and I received a callback to read for the Choirmaster in Harry Potter World! Which I am a HUGE fan of. Seriously. As 'research' I went to Universal's Harry Potter World and it's awesome. Just like the books way cool! Anyways, the audition went great, was impressed that I was able to utilize my British on such a quick cold read and feel natural with it. Maybe I was meant to be a wizard...

We have a Cast!

So, in addition to the many events of the summer, I have also begun the new adventure of producing. Which I'm very excited about. It's a new play by Steve Sherman called ON CAMPUS and we're aiming for a production in the beginning months of 2011. It's a great play that deals with some very relevant situations that today's college students face (love play's with great messages). We've been holding auditions and I'm very excited to say we have are cast! We had our first read-through tonight and I have to say these actors are some of the New York's finest! This is definitely going to be a show you're gonna want to see!

After a summer full of weddings, and some much delayed quality family time I have re-entered the auditioning world once more, and in full force! Starting with an audition for the New Theatre in Coral Gables, FL for the world premiere of The Radiant. Which went amazingly! Everyone there was very gracious and told me to expect a callback, probably closer to the time of the show in the spring. Plus I get to enjoy the sunny Miami weather. Not a bad way to re-enter the auditioning world. ;)

Very excited to be working on a new project with Lorelei Ignas at the moment. It's called Prep, and it's basically "Brave New World" meets "Gossip Girl" in a nutshell. All Through the Night

Just got cast in a new play by Shirley Lauro titled All Through the Night. I have a feeling this is going to be a very moving production. The play is just remarkable. It is the story of Gentile German women growing up during the Nazi Regime and the different paths they choose. It really does make you question what you would do under the same circumstances, hopefully I would've actually chosen my character, Angelika's path. The play features an AEA member cast (minus myself) of: Theo Allyn, Michelle Lookadoo, Lesley McBurney, and Andrea Sooch. Previews begin on Oct. 2nd and runs until Oct. 25th. IT Nominations Announced!

So there is this really cool awards event for off-off Broadway called the Innovative Theatre Awards or the "IT Awards" which is just fun to say. And Oph3lia got nominated for Best Ensemble! How fun and exciting is that. We were all invited to attend the press party which is where the offical nominations were announced and the Award ceremony will take place on September 21st! So stayed tuned and keep your fingers crossed. The press party was a lot of fun, photos were taken, dancing was at an all time high, we were interviewed, and best of all got to enjoy the company of the cast and even ran into other familiar faces from past projects. I think you can also vote for who wins, although I'm not really sure how it works, but click here to cast your vote!

The Radiant

I'm currently working on a workshop production of The Radiant. It's exciting to get to see how the play has developed since the reading at EST back in the Octoberfest. We will have 2 performances one at The Actor's Studio and the other at EST. I'm really looking forward to putting up this workshop, it feels like it's actually more of a mini production. The script has really evolved and the cast is very talented and inspiring, it features: Angelica Torn, Bill Cwikowski, Ben Rappaport, and Timothy Doyle (all of whom of course are AEA Members). I'm very excited to see how it is received. The dates are Monday, June 15 at 4pm at the Actor's Studio and Wednesday, June 17th at 7pm at Ensemble Studio Theatre. Admission is free so if you're free too, come and drop by!

Just had a wonderful time working on NYC's Film Race with some great people from EngelEntertainment. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Was really impressed how on schedule we were. Although with only 24hrs to write, film, and edit it, it was definitely necessary! It will screen on 4/4/09 at the Canter Film Center. Come and see!

No Regrets

Very excited, just found out I'll be involved in a new play No Regrets, directed by one of my close friends from PHTS Libby Conkle. The play is based off of Edith Piaf's life and the various people she encountered throughout her life and career. Needless to say I'll be playing multiple roles one of which is Marilyn Monroe, which I"m looking forward to the challenge of! The play will go up at the Producer's Club on 44th Street on April 9th and 10th, so keep a look out!

Gossip Girl

Just finished doing some extra work on Gossip Girl. The crew was exceptionally fun to be with and even though the weather was cold it was a great experience! Once again, I got to play a high school student, uniform and all! But it was definitely with a Gossip Girl twist, I got to wear magenta tights, headband, and scarf, it was definitely an 'in' outfit! Still waiting for one more SAG voucher though...

I'm thrilled to be participating in the reading of 2 new plays at the Ensemble Theatre Festival this November as part of their Octoberfest Festival! The first one is CURIE/BENEATH THE RADAR by Shirley Lauro. It's a play that explores Marie Curie's personal and professional life and her struggles in society. It goes up Nov. 13th and 14th at 7pm at EST on the 2nd floor. The second one is BURNING LEAVES by Tom Rowan, it's a great new play about an actor from New York City who tries to make a new life by teaching theatre in a small midwestern town and the conflicts that arise. The two dates for this one are Nov. 16th at 5pm and Nov. 19th at 9pm, again on the 2nd floor of EST. Be sure to come check them out! Oph3lia Opens!

Out of rehearsals and in front of an audience, Oph3lia opened tonight in HERE's newly renovated space. It felt fantastic to put up in front of an audience. The energy level was definitely at a high and despite some minor mishaps do to the first night jitters, I think the energy of the piece really seemed to take off! After working with such an amazing group of people on this show, I really feel honored and proud being in this production. I hope you will come see it! It runs until July 2nd, so there is plenty of time!

The Corn Maiden

It went really well, they took the time to really work through the improve scenario and had me do it several times, giving me new directions each time. We had our final performance of After the Rain tonight. Both shows went very well and I had a great time working on this project! I was pleased with the reviews and comments we received about the show and look forward to working with Yara again.

While this show has closed, I'm still emerged in the downtown theater world as rehearsals continue for Oph3lia going up at HERE in June. This will definitely be a show to watch out for! So stay posted for updates as the summer draws near.

So, I just had a callback for an AT&T commercial through Donald Case Casting. Tisha Ioli called me in for the original audition and they liked what they saw and called me back! I definitely received positive feedback after the audition and felt great overall about the callback. This is the second commercial audition Tisha has called me in for and I'm sure there will be more in the near future!
